Eating together, relaxing and socialising are expertly woven into daily life at The Chocolate Works and the range of dining options from which our residents can choose is quite simply second to none. From the terrace to the pub, the café to the atrium or simply taking time out for some alone time we are delighted to be able to facilitate residents living life as independently as possible.
Head of Hospitality Services, Steve West, and our award winning supplier Apetito work together to offer delicious, nutritious meals in a variety of settings making sure there are reasons to look forward to every mealtime. We offer something for everyone in terms of a wide variety of tastes and regular reviews of our menus and, naturally, we also offer texture modified meals and special diets (diabetic, energy dense, low fat).
Albert and Andrea Lee were the founders of Springfield Healthcare, opening one of the first residential care homes in Garforth, Leeds. Their vision was to create a warm and welcoming home away from home for all of their residents and their families, and a feeling of belonging to a special community.
It was the importance of this sense of community which inspired Albert and Andrea’s son, Graeme, CEO of Springfield Healthcare, to utilise the atrium as the heart of the home that it is today.
A vital part of any community is a meeting place; somewhere to gather and exchange news, share laughs, build friendships and enjoy spending time with the family. So when the atrium’s coffee shop was built there was only one possible name for it, Albert’s Café, in memory of family and all it stands for.
Albert’s Café is open daily to all of our residents to enjoy delicious cakes, buns, sandwiches and paninis to name a few. Family and friends are also invited to use the café and purchase a treat whilst visiting their loved one.
Moving into a care home doesn’t mean having to give up everything you used to do before. In fact, the move can sometimes reinvigorate residents, with new opportunities and choices of how to spend time. Often residents have become isolated and lonely in their own homes and The Chocolate Works Care Village can provide a whole new social scene – it’s up to you what you take part in … there’s no pressure from us.
The Chocolate Works Care Village has its very own onsite pub – The Duke of York, serving traditional hot and cold pub classics. From pies, roast dinners and fish & chips, to lighter options such as jacket potatoes, there is something to tantalise everyone’s taste buds.
The Duke of York is also fully licensed and offers a selection of craft beers, fine wines, spirits and soft drinks. Don’t see your favourite tipple? Not a problem. Simply let us know what you like, and we will make sure we have it in stock for you.
And what sort of a pub would it be without darts, dominoes, quizzes and music to keep you and your friends entertained.
Family and friends are also invited to use The Duke of York to purchase a drink or meal to enjoy alongside their loved one, during their visit.
