We just wanted to highlight the attention to detail from our wonderful Kitchen team! 🧡
They do an amazing job and strive to create a marvelous atmosphere for the residents mealtimes and afternoon tea every day! This extends to the serving trays for residents that like to enjoy their meals in their rooms.
We appreciate that small details make such a big impact on the every day experience for our residents!
Thank you very much to The Deathly Dark Tours, for the brilliant walking tour of York!
The residents really enjoyed virtually exploring York, as it's been quite some time, they were happy to see streets like Whip-ma-wop-ma-gate and the The Bar Walls of York once again 🙂 And learn the grizzly tales of days gone by.
Yesterday was the anniversary of the hanging of the infamous highway man Dick Turpin, who was famously hung on the Knavesmire! We learnt that the platform is still there to this day!

Happy Mothers Day!
The ladies reminisced about the lives as a mother, grandparent and even Great grandparent! They had a ladies afternoon tea, chatting about the now "vintage" Silver Cross pram, Jones sewing machine and sewing patterns.
We asked them what their best advice for a new mother would be.. "Hug them as much as you can" "Don't panic" were a couple of the favourites.
Thank you so much to Faye who kindly donated her vintage sewing machine, which belonged to her grandmother. We always welcome any vintage items, to reminisce over and spark old memories for residents with Dementia.
We celebrated Employee Appreciation Day by holding a staff giveaway with three prizes up for grabs. We asked colleagues to nominate one another and from these nominations, winners were selected at random.
Congratulations to our winners ...
🥁 🥁 🥁 🥁 🥁
Chocolate Works Care Villages 'MARCH MOOD BOOSTER' is almost here...
For every day in March, we will be holding a prize draw where a member of staff, selected at random, will win a bath bomb/self care prize ...
Every Monday, the lucky winner of the day will win a luxury Hotel Chocolat hamper!
We hope you all got to celebrate Valentines with your loved one, virtually or otherwise!
Each resident was given a red rose and a note to say we love having them a The Chocolate Works! We have a wonderful couple who also celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary and with their friends sang and danced the evening away to our Elvis Presley Livestream concert!
Our Wellbeing team decorated the home for the residents to enjoy a Candle-lit dinner over their evening meal and the Kitchen went all out with the afternoon tea and desserts ❤️

Across the Springfield Healthcare Group, we have always facilitated compassionate or essential visits which has been very important to us as care providers to support all of our residents and their loved ones with kindness and dignity. We also continue to support a variety of other visits such as window, garden, visitor rooms and in-room visits, to ensure residents can stay connected with their loved ones.
We asked one of our relatives to share her thoughts and experiences of having a loved one in a Springfield residential care home during the pandemic. Click the link below to read more…
Springfield Healthcare’s new initiative continues to put mental health as much a priority as physical health. We have created Mental Health First Aid Boxes for each of our homes to provide resources and support to colleagues who may be struggling with their mental health.
We want to spread awareness and ensure that staff feel able to speak our Mental Health First Aiders, to learn about many different coping mechanisms and to use a range of resources if needed.

Thank you to St. Chad and St Clement Church, South Bank in York for welcoming our residents to this week's virtual Coffee Morning! Of course, it doesn't beat the cheese scones and cakes on a Wednesday morning though!
Our residents were regulars at St.Chads weekly coffee mornings and it is very much missed! Virtual video technology is completely new to our residents but they have embraced it with curiosity and appreciation.

Spring is in the air!
We're trying to bring the outside in across all communities at The Chocolate Works ☀️🌳
Today the residents arranged flowers for their bedrooms, sowed flowers ready to bloom in spring and made their own bird feeder balls which we will put up in the Peace Garden!
